The best American city to live in is Austin, Texas for the 3rd year in a row, according to U.S. News & World Report.

What are the rankings based on?

U.S. News analyzed 125 metro areas in the United States to find the best places to live based on quality of life and the job market in each metro area, as well as the value of living there and people's desire to live there. They base their rankings on U.S. Census Bureau’s statistics, Federal Bureau of Investigation’s crime statistics, Department of Labor’s wage and economic data and are then categorized into 5 indexes.

1.    Job Market – the strength of the job market

2.    Value – how comfortably the average resident can afford to live

3.   Quality of Life – how satisfied residents are with their daily lives

4.   Desirability – whether or not people want to live there

5.   Net Migration – whether people are moving to or away from there

What sets Austin apart from the rest?

Determining the best place to live is a highly subjective and yes we must take a look at the statistics when making the decision to relocate or make a local move.  The combination of warm weather, a laid back lifestyle, and tad of weirdness make Austin unique, and despite rapid population growth, Austin remains a downright cool place to live.
